So I've been using VP C85 for the last few weeks, didnt think I'd be impressed... but I was wrong

I've run Sunoco E85R which tested out to be about E90, and wasn't very impressed by it.

VP C85 cant be tested for ethanol percentage, I did try and the water doesn't separate.

The car has been running cooler, pulls hard and just keeps adding timing, never sees a hint of knock even when running 21+*
I've heard a lot of stories of people gaining 2-4%hp from it and wasnt much of a believer... but I will say I dont think its unreasonable. There is a few GTR's that gained 2-3% with no changes other than the change from E85 to C85.

Race E85 oxygen content by brand

FTW purple 32%
Sunoco E85R 29%
VP C85 33%

anyone else try C85?

I'm currently running VP C85. My 8.80 run was on it at NMRA MIR. Really impressed so far with it. I'll be on the dyno doing testing here soon for some "changes" with C85 in the tank. Should be interesting. Funny thing is it smells like strong "supercharged" vodka. LOL.

it does smell nice lol, I wish they would disclose the true Ethanol percentage and what fuel they mixed it with... I'm going to guess MS109 or the newer 101

$10 a gallon for Ethanol?

Wow! I'd expect a lot of gains for 3x the cost

Sun E85R is about 12-13$ per gallon.

Ignite works out to about 6$ per gallon after shipping, but I dont think it compares to C85

FTW purple Ethanol is like 165$ for 5 gallons! - there have been some huge documented gains from it but still @ 33$ per gallon its a little crazy.

There is a local place by me that beats those prices by about 10% including shipping if anyone local wants any VP or thoroughbred fuels. I'd do a big bulk order if I could find someone who also wants a drum of two.

I had spoken with the guys from VP at Sema about their C85 and they blend 100% Ethanol with their leaded race gas. He wasn't completely sure but thought they cut it with C16 race gas.

I've used both Ignite E90 and currently have a drum of C85, $485 a drum ,they are both kick ass fuel and 2 steps up from pump E85 . I would lean more towards the Ignite E90 due to price differences ,Ignite E90 $305 a drum. C85 smells like Ethanol on Steriods ,while E90 smells like i made 20 bags of popcorn in the garage

if that's true - the lead will kill your O2s

also I hope whomever is using this fuel has the specific stoich for their tuner to make proper adjustments

Thats 100% incorrect, and a little sad that the VP guys at Sema did not know this.

Its a unleaded fuel. - they listed it as Unleaded right on their website
Some leaded fuels and ethanol dont blend well - many have done this or tried, but it doesnt work out for most. - I've used E98 and tried to cut it with 10% C16 and it was a fail.

I'm sure C85 is mixed with MS109 (among other things) which is Oxygenated with MTBE... and a quick look at their MSDS sheet shows it contains MTBE

Buy a drum of E98 (250.00) and blend in your 13%-15% oxygenated race gas like Q-16 then you got something to talk about.

I don't think it'd kill the 02 sensors all that fast being the Q is so diluted. Q-16 straight up...It's nasty stuff!! Gives me a headache.

I've run about 250 gallons of Q through my Mazda and the O2's are still working great, if someone could master a Q16 Ethanol blend it would be impressive, getting it to mix right is key.

That FTW purple is said to use Nitro meth - hence the cray price.

Tuning for the fuel blend would be the biggest obstacle. once that's found and stabilized you'd be great.

Any Lead fuel ruins 02's ,thats a fact . Why would anybody try to mix E98 with any type of leaded ? Why would you even attempt to do that ,Ignite E90 and VP C85 is a stout fuel as it comes . I've ran over 40lbs of boost and yet to see detonation on either .Q16 is intended for all out race application especially at $17.00 a gallon ,throw it in that GT500 let me know what it does

There are a lot of street/strip high boost turbo cars I know running Q16, I run 46+psi (not on the GT500) combined with a secondary fuel system of methanol and LOVE IT, even without out the secondary fuel I've found nothing that can compare (maybe import, but it didnt provide anything over Q). To Johns comment of the combo, there are a few SBC turbo guys who have put a lot of work in mastering a C12 + E98 combo and have decent power from it compared to so called "race" ethanol mixes. The lowest I've seen Q for in my area has been 94$ per 5 gallon which is about 19$ per gallon, many are asking 20+ now.

Are you running Ignite E98 or E85? you say E90... but they make 2 mixes (98 & 85), unless you're speaking of the true tested content of their E85 - ignite's shipping was too high to my area, worked out to 400 a barrel for their 85 mix.
