Video editing software? What to use?

I bought a new camcorder today to record all my son's new moments.

The video editing software that comes with it SUCKS!

Does anybody know a good peice of video editing software that's user friendly, intuitive and let's you do some cool stuff?

On a Mac, Final cut pro.

On a PC, Premier or Vegas Video.

I use Vegas Video 4 by Sonic Foundry, you can get it off Kazaa if you look hard enough.

Easy to use, good codecs, lots of options, cant go wrong. I sued premiere 6 for a while, and ran up on vegas 4.0 and havent used premiere since.

If you have Windows XP there is also a small program built in that is in Accesories called Windows Media Maker, it works good for capturing clips off the cam, but as far as making sound, titles etc you need vegas to do that.

If you cant find vegas lemme know, I will burn a copy for you and send it to you in the mail.

Pinnacle Studio 8 is what I have been using lately. Better than the ULead stuff that was bundled with my firewire card.
