Video Editing/Composing software?

What video editing software do you guys recommend?

i've been recommended both some windows program(probably basic at best) and adobe premier. what do you guys use/recommend. I would like something similar to photoshop because of its ease of use and ability to do more complicated things if desired, but a good basic movie editor where you can add background music and whatnot would probably suffice.

+1 for Final Cut. Easy to learn and definitely most reliable.
