Are any of you running it? I remember seeing it a while ago and now that i have money for a gt500 brake set up, Venom is out of stock of their conversion kit, hopefully they bring them back.

But anyways, has anyone tried them? I want to know this stuff is legitimately safe. I was going to hop on a set of 2013 take offs but then realized i would have to run 19" rims and im not to fond of that idea. Traction would be horrible i think and ride aswell. Just seeing whats up.

The discs alone on the GT500 weigh 32 lbs.

Why would you want to do this?

A 2 pc 14" x 1.25" Wilwood disc weighs 19 lbs. :)

The vintage venom kits run a 2007-2012 OEM GT500 one pc 14" rotor. These porky rotors weigh over 25# EACH!

An OEM SN-95 13" front Cobra Rotor weighs 19# each.

This translates into that kit adding 12.44# of rotating mass and unsprung weight, the most important weight on a vehicle, to the already overly obese front end of a Mustang. A car might stop better with that kit but it will be a downgrade in performance and handling.

Not too long ago, Full Tilt Boogie Racing started offering a Brembo 14" SN-95 front brake conversion kits that are made for the SN-95 vehicles. They are not parts pieced together from different vehicles.

Here's a photo of the kit:

Here's the weight of the full floating 2 pc street rotor assemblies:

So, you get the benefit of a Brembo four piston fixed caliper and increased braking leverage by increasing the front braking leverage by 1" and you're also REDUCING rotating mass and unsprung weight by 4.84#!

The kit is also offered with a heavy duty road race rotor and the road race rotor assemblies weigh 19.82# each. So they only add a slight amount of rotating mass and unsprung weight compared to the 13" OEM one pc rotor.

The FT 9490 and FT 9490HD kits can be found on our SN-95 brake parts order page:

Mustang Cobra SN-95 Brake Parts

We are offering a 10% discount on the kits when paid with a check. This saves us Pay-Pal and CC fees and we pass that savings along to our customers.

The 2013 and 2014 GT500 15" rotors weight 32.4# each:
