I've been thinking about putting together a bag of random tools to keep in my truck. Any of you guys done this? If so, what'd you put in it?

I do have a set of tools in the car and the truck. Nothing crazy, just basic anticipation stuff. It's insurance, you have it and hope to never have to use it. So far, I've been lucky. lol

In addition to the stock jack:
Battery operated air compressor, impact gun, torque wrench, wrench with the metric socket sizes and a flashlight.

And if I go offroading I take a 3 ton jack, car fluids.

A general maintenance type of tool box. Most commonly used tools such as set of wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, pry bar, Flashlights, battery cables and charger, tire change kit which should already be on the car. If I was traveling a good distance I would probably keep some extra fluids for the car as well.

Flashlight, jumper cables, Leatherman, first aid kid, and extra ammo. I guess we all worry about something different. The ammo is in case the Hagerty and or AAA truck gets lost.

Well I have the standard equipment stuff. And if I'm not traveling from home to work which is a short ride, I take my cheap but useful 9 million piece harbor freight fold up set.

It's been handy

I have my wife carry a Ryobi tool bag with jumper cables, a socket set, LED flashlight/emergency marker, wrenches, pliers, safety wire, electrical tape, ratchet straps and a small med kit. Her purse has at least 4 knives in it.

I carry a multi-tool and a tire iron.

You guys drive around with all that stuff in your Mustangs?
Seems like a lot if dead weight, but at the same time I envy you all and will now be putting together a small kit.

I carry the same as pretty much all you guys. However, since my car didn't come with a spare I'm SOL in that and would have to call assistance if I can't plug and inflate the tire.

15-30lbs of tools isn't much IMO.

How do you guys keep it from sliding around in the trunk?

You can always store it in a gym bag and secure the bag to the side of the trunk / use up space in the spare wheel area.

In my wife's F150, it hides under the rear seats completely out of sight.

I took a diesel tech with me on long trips when I had my 6.0 Powerstroke and let him take whatever tools he wanted.

Serious.

That last sentence...just going to carjack a tow rig driving by if it takes too long? lol.

The truck, I keep a tool bag with standard sockets/wrenches, tow rope, flashlight, shovel, jumper cables, Diesel 911, starting fluid (clearing out bad diesel sucks dick), and a few other things. Course when the coolant hose blew, I just had a wrecker tow it to the house.

The car I'm lazy, and insurance pays for tows, so I just carry cables, compressor, and fix-a-flat just in case.

Like @OETKB I keep enough ammo in both the truck and car to overthrow a small nation.

Skip the flashlight and pack a headlamp with some spare batteries. Hands free light helps a lot when changing a flat tire in the dark. Oh, and nobody mentioned a recovery strap in the truck too. Pulling neighbors out of snow is common practice where I live.
