I'm rebuilding the engine in my 99 Cobra and I want to install new cams on the 03/04 heads that I'm upgrading too. I already have the OTC 6498 kit to align the crank and hold the cams in place. Here is what I plan to do.

1. Bolt the heads in place.
2. Bolt down the cams. (no degreeing)
3. Align the crank using OTC tool.
4. Turn the cams (96-98 Cobra Cams) to the 6 o'clock position.
5. Install the secondary chain and gears for the cams (not around the crank)
6. Install tensioners for the secondary chains
6. Install the followers
7. Install the primary chains
8. Install primary tensioners

Has anyone used this valve spring tool?:http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/1918180...&ul_noapp=true

I'm looking to find the cheapest tool, short of a flat head screw driver, to install the cams.
Also, since this is my first time installing cams from scratch on this motor feel free to critique my procedure. I looked over the aluminator Gibtec build but I could not find a good depiction of follower installation.

You're intending to use that to compress the springs and slide the rocker arm in? That's not going to be possible with the design of the cup on that tool. Honestly I've removed and reinstalled all of the rocker arms on my engine several times with a flat head wrapped in electrical tape. It's incredibly quick and simple to do. It is also way easier to use a screwdriver than the OTC tools, too. I have both OTC compressors and they've just sat in the bottom of my toolbox for years because they're such a pain.

In regard to your actual step by step, you're spot on.

Right on. Thanks Tabres! I was able to find enough research to find a safe way of doing it without risking damage. I think I'm going to use a thick gauge piece of aluminum flat bar or your idea of electrical tape on a screw driver. Appreciate the help any more videos or pics would be nice.
