so my car took a crap today at cylinder 5. Did a compression check and it was maxed out at 90psi. I know a buddy at my local ford dealer and he told me that the exhaust valve seat had come loose and there was actually a tsb for it. Assuming that this is my issue and my head isnt damaged does upgrading to the ss valves make this issue go away?...since i have it all apart was thinking of doing blower cams anyway. Btw these heads are fms heads with 2003-2004 valvetrain and shortblock.

Changing over to stainless valves won't fix the issue. Unless you've taken the head off then you can't say for sure it's the seat. More then likely you cracked a piston or piston ring.

not a tsb for the 99-01's . there is for the 03-05 4v's.. somthing about a revised coolant around the 3-4 and 7-8 exhaust valves seats.. And they will need new valve seat or seats to fix, it was the seats sinking not coming loose, probably due to owners using crap fuel or low octane fuel like 87 or 89....
