I'm pretty sure I have a small vacuum leak. My autometer boost/vac gauge is reading 17 vac at idle when it usually reads 20. And, my car sometimes hesitates. I had the gauge installed 6 1/2 years ago by a shop. I think the heat from the valve cover got to it and caused a leak. What can I put on the valve cover so the the heat won't damage the vacuum line connection?

I know thats probably the easiest place to tap into a vacuum/boost source but for a gauge just tap into it behind the instrument cluster or behind the glove box like said above. There should be no reason to have to put anything on the valve covers. This is how vacuum lines are run on all vehicles with out problems. there is no need for a fix just a better gauge install.
