A lot of ego maniacs get into Law Enforcement/Military whom weren't raised with any sort of integrity. Above all else, I thank my parents for my up bringing and making me the person I am. Most youngsters these days, get into these fields for 1 of 2 reasons, they have an ego and feel like wearing a badge/BDU's empowers them. or, they've got no where else to go. Either way, it's a major issue this country faces, due to the massive skills gap that's been created. We used to view hard working americans in the laboring fields as the hero's in this country, we used to push people to get involved in fields that are now considered "alternative". Fields such as, Military/LE, Welding, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Automotive. These days and really for the past 20 years high school counselors have placed such an emphasis on college (4 year degrees specifically) that's we've completely de-valued the exact trades that made this country a successful superpower. Schools all across the globe are dropping vocational education programs from their available curriculum options. We've become so brainwashed to force kids to go into debt, for an education they'll never be able to afford to pay back, for a job that essentially no longer exists due to over saturation. The US has over 1 Trillion dollars in student loan debt, with 13 Million people on on employment and over 4.5 Million available jobs in laboring fields. I'm not bashing College education as a whole by any means. I just think it's been WAY over emphasized to increase the financial gain of these schools. College Tuitions have went up 700% since the 70's, Compare that to the price increases of gasoline, groceries, & healthcare. It's far and away the leader. If that doesn't tell us something, than I don't know what does. End result, laboring fields or "alternative fields" suffer and have to lower expectations in order to fill positions, then you end up with situations like we have here.
