What carrier do you plan on using it with? You won't get 3G internet on any carrier other than T-Mobile.

Exactly. Different radio frequencies. MMS may work. Everything else should work except your internet speeds will be very slow.

If you want an Android phone with 3G, you're either going to have to switch carriers, or wait for ATT to release one.

I have a G1 on TMobile. Had Edge for almost a year before my city got 3G. Honestly dont notice that much difference at all between the two...

Best part about an unlocked G1 is cyanogen and rooting it.

rooting it gives you full access to customization and application control.
CYANOGEN is a developer of ROMs that are customized Versions of the android operating system.

+1...i would prolly never go back to another phone except the iphone. son broke mine by accident and i coughed up the money for another. love it!

go to the android forums and they have every thing you need to know. I was stuck between the iphone and the G1 and got the G1. I have used the iphone alot everyone of my friends has it and I just do not like it as much. It is all personal taste. I do not like the touch keypad. I like a real keyboard.

It takes the phone away from Google and allows you to do what ever any genius comes up with on it :rolling:
