That the "black" top on my '03 Cobra was NOT originally "black". It was parchment. Which would explain why it is more of a brown/black than a nice rich black. Whoever at Ford decided that it would be an amazing idea to make ANY of the verts with a top any color other than black, especially on a BLACK COBRA....hopefully that person was fired.

So now I have a faded "black" top. I'd like to just replace it with a new black top but I was quoted $1,900 parts and labor. Does that sound right? I guess it depends on where you live...

Are there any products that you have actually used that would be recommended for blackening my top? I've read mixed reviews on pretty much all of the treatments/dyes.

I'm not ready yet to put that kind of money down on a new top but I also don't want a nasty brown top.

With tops you get what you pay for. A quality top is expensive.

What brand are they using? Glass or plastic window? Insulated? American or German? Heated rear glass? Warranty?
