Twas the day before yesterday ,and all ,down the street
not a musclecar was stirring, none no fresh meat.
I had stopped off at Ingles, and filled my gas tank with care,
With hopes a new CAMARO soon would be there.
The Camaro owners were nestled ,all snug in their beds,
While visions of Z06'S danced in their heads.
Momma in the GT and me in the 04 Cobra from Ford
We were headed to Carrollton to a 2 year olds birthday party help me o LORD.!
Then up from behind me arose such a clatter,
IT got my att, I had to see what was the matter,
Away to the window switch I flew like a flash,
Looking in the side view I almost had a crash
The cars in front of me were moving so slow,
Darn light had turned red leaving me no where to go,
When what to my wandering eyes do appear
But a 69 camaro that almost hit me in the rear,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
I stuck it in 2nd with my 6spd gear stick,
More rapid than eagles in his z-28 he came'
IT whistled and shuddered ,and it reminded me of battles with other BRAND NAMES,
Now VW,now Audi, now Firebird and Chevy truck,
ON Mustang,on Caddy on Smart car which won on fuel milage his good luck.
To the top of my list to the top of them all,
Now dash away ,dash away give me your all!
As dry as the street was I let it all fly,
Gased it a little to hard and heard the tires start to cry,
So up through the gears, the rubber it flew,
And a 100 yards behind me the Camaro tried this too,
Super charger screaming ,I heard wind on the roof,
And screaching and grindind of my Stangs 275-40 wide hoofs,
As I drew in my head and was looking around.
MY Cobra got traction and I hit back of the seat with a bound,
Camaro way behind me now not gaining a foot.
That ORANGE paint not shiney all covered with tire soot.
A bundle of joy I patted myself on my back,
And he looked like a peddler who needed a 69 stang with drag pack,
His eyes were bewidered,he did not look merry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn down like a bow,
And his knuckles on the wheel were as white as snow,
By the look on his face I could see his clinched teeth
And the smoke it circled his head like a wreath
He had a broad face ,could not see his belly,
But mine shakes when I laugh like a bowl full of jelly,
I am chubby and plump a right jolly old self
And I am sure he laughed at me inspite of himself
With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
But I already knew I had nothing to dread
He spoke not a word I thought he was going to work,
And then he slowed his car down and turned with a jerk
Taking his finger he wiped a tear from his nose
And giving a nod the CHEVY car show he arose
He sprang from his car and to his possee gave a whistle
And away they flew to him like the down of a thisitle,
But I heard him exclaim ere I drove out of sight
STAY AWAY FROM THAT COBRA AND YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD NIGHT!
