Gen 2 vmp tvs on 82mm pulley. Best i can muster out of the car is a 1.72 60ft. Car is dead hooking so no traction issues. Trying to decide if i want to do a stall or not. Would like to get 1.5's if i could but i don't see it happening on the stock stall. Car is 3950# with driver, stage 3 vmp kit with jlt and 93 oct vmp tuning. 1.72 60FT with 7.13 1/8th @100mph @2250da. Stock manifold's,off road x with 3.15 gears and gt500 mufflers. Running a 325/40/18 m&h radial. Thinking about going to a 79mm pulley before the stall but i do see alot of guys 1.5 and 1.6 with similar set ups on a 82mm. Just looking for some input on ideals.

Seems down on power to me. Have you verified that your IC pump is working? You should be able to see and hear it with just the ignition turned to "On".

Data log it, it probably needs more timing below 3500rpm. Look for the lowest timing point during the launch in the data log. Mine is usually around 2600.

I went 1.54 last year w/ 79mm pulley on NT05r's. I run the 325/40/18 M&H's too. That's a good tire! My first couple of outings resulted in crawling off the line until my tuner turned the timing up down low. You should get high 1.5's on the 82mm.

I logged that run but not the other 2. All runs are the same within a few thous. I wished i would of logged the other runs also. On that log it shows the timing to be at 13.5 700-2550rpm, 10.5 2600-7000, 7000-7400 15.50 with 0 knock then adding .50* 4800-5600 and adding 1*-2* up to 7400 That is 1st gear,2nd and 3rd timing looks spot on. asked justin about it and he said the log might not have processed the data quick enough. This was on a revised tune, but the night before the timing was in the 15* range at lower rpm in 1st. Justin has been nothing but helpful on this car as we had a dumb issue with a wrench light so i hate to bug him as im sure he feels like this is the hell car.lol Had a plugged pcv line from factory causing a wrench light to come on but no code. Took us a while to track that down. He did send a new tune today with added timing on top end so maby it will drop some more. Just feel like it should have a better 60ft.

Your timing is definitely a little low. It should never drop down below 13 on the launch. It should ramp up to 17* asap after 3000 rpm for a 82mm on 93 octane

With about the same combo mine would also 60ft low 1.7 with cats. I went from the 82 to a 79 pulley and cat deletes and have went 1.63. I also have asked Justin (VMP) if we could get some more low end out of the car and he said more boost or stall is what is needed

My car does trap some good MPH 132 running high 10's

Scott's right. Timing is too low, especially down low where it launches. 15 would be ok, go to e85 and you can get even more down low.

Timing isn't a cure all. Hell I think I have my low rpm timing set to 12* at launch and she bolts out just fine.

1.43 60 spinning. Have new MT Pros on the way to band aid my stock suspension car ;) Getting new time in a few weeks.

But even when it was running 10.5s I had solid 1.50-1.52 60s with similar low timing at launch.

Not saying it doesn't help, just saying its not the cure all.

I've been where you are. Here are a handful of things you can do to get where you want to be and beyond. These are pearls, so listen up.

1) Get a tune for 93/Torco Accelerator, which will get you more spark. A 6 pack is $125 and you run 1 can per tank. Justin will tune for it.

2) Get a VMP Intercooler fluid reservoir so you can pack it with ice before passes. The cooler your fluid and lower the iat2's, the better the 60' and everything else you get. If you put in the effort to cycle ice through it and pack it before a run, I garuntee you will gain at least .2/2mph, likely more.

3) Run in cooler air

4) Remove the JLT, add a Roush Airbox and a 75mm pulley. The box will limit maximum boost to 10-10.5 and the small pulley will hit allot harder off the bottom and through the mid range which will slash your 60' time and make the car feel ALLOT stronger.

Bringing it back up again. Well went to a 79mm pulley with a 93 tune and data log showed pulling 3/4 timing out so added torco and did a log and it added timing through out the pull. Went back to the track 75* 1500da and best run of the night was a 1.68 60ft, 6.94 1/8th @ 103.83 with race weight of 3940. Had a few 7.0s with a 1.70 60ft runs at 103 mph. But still no lower 60ft times. This was even running the 325/40/18" drag radials at 32+psi. I figured the 79mm pulley would of at least helped the 60ft but it didn't. Has anyone seen a stock factory converter be tight. Even when mike roush tuned it when it was n/a best we could muster out of it was a 2.0 60ft hooking. Just wondering if i got a fluke of a converter and its holding the car back.

You don't need to lower the tire pressure if it isn't spinning.

When you were at the track did you ever look at your tech and see what the converter is flashing to? I have wondered also if my converter is a little tighter. Every car is a different from the factory

Wish I had the no spin problem. I am running a 79mm, cat deletes and stockish air box. I don't use Torco. Lucas is way less expensive. OTOH the most octane boost is 3 points = 96 octane. Justin tuned my car for it. I need to weigh my car next week as I am certain it is a porker. It is a loaded '12 Premium. Think the original owner checked every option box. My best 60' was a 1.59 on 555Rs Thursday night.

Did you log your run to see what your launch timing is? 32psi is way too high, even though you have a great tire, it should spin at that pressure. If it's not then you definitely don't have enough timing down low. That tire is not too big, I ran heavier 315/15/40 Nitto's last year at the same power level. I've also been 1.43 60' on that same tire (15psi) this year, so the tire is not your problem. Have someone video the tire on launch to see if your spinning or crawling off the line.
You should be bringing up your converter to 1200 rpm and flash it from there. My stock converter starts to push around 1800rpm last time I checked it out on the street.

Here's an old time slip of mine with a 79mm pulley on NT05's. You can kinda compare to yours. Mine was falling on its face on the big end. Looking back now, I can see why. Mine was pulling timing in high gear. Had the same problem at the beginning of this season. Looking back at my logs I should have been in the 10.49 - 10.52 range w/ the 79mm pulley.
