Does anyone know if this can be done through the handheld or do you have to actually have the tuning software to turn the PATS system off in the car? I have a different computer in my car and it wont allow me to start it until this is done. Have a buddy with the protuner sct software but I only have an SF3 handheld with I dont think holds custom tunes. Anyone have any input?

You need the tuning software. Your handheld should hold custom tunes. But unless you have the same computer code as your buddy his PRP won't work for you.
SCT SF3 holds 2 tunes.
An SF3 will hold 3 tunes actually and you will either need to get your own Pro Racer package , or purchase a custom tune from an SCT dealer
