I used the search several ways and did not find anything. Has anyone done a write-up of the transmission removal/clutch replacement procedure including the torque specifications? I am pulling the transmission to send off to Liberty soon, and I will be installing a DFX clutch when it returns. I am not sure if there is anything that needs special attention. I do have a transmission jack. I have swapped out transmissions in older cars before, but not in this one. I would be happy if somebody could point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Wow, thank you very much. Does the engine need to be supported from rocking up and down, or is it more secure in the mounts then the old cars I am familiar with? Now to take a minute to save this to word!

you dont have to support it but it will move. You can have a buddy rock it for you when you stab it back in. I always forget to disconnect the battery but i get reminded when I go and remove the starter. BTW if this is the first time the tranny is comming out, there is a bracket on top of the tranny that the o2 sensor are attached to. Do yourself a favor and throw it away. Its a PIA to put back in.

Great write up....we just did my buddys trans and we put a DFX in, but we didn't use any alignment tool  Is the cluth suposed to be aligned a certian way? Will not using the tool hurt anything? His car seems to be running great no problems yet...But I we are getting ready to do mine and I don't want to take a chance and mess it up...

Thanks

Wow you got really luck not using a alignment tool. Its used to center the clutch plate with the pilot bearing so you can slide the tranny input shaft in w/o binding. Its a cheap plastic tool that can make life alot easier. Sure you can do w/o but why?

if you still have a 10 spline you can get the tool from autozone for a ford. If you upgraded to a 26 spline then ask for a camaro one. They have 26 splines from the factory.
