I was going to buy a new Trans oil pan with a drain plug, but they are all deeper than stock and could be a problem with a lowered truck. They also cost $150+

I have used B&M's add-on drain plug kit on other vehicles but the nut always seems to back off on the inside of the pan when you loosen the plug, also you can't get all of the fluid to drain out..... here is a quick, inexpenve fix.

Purchase a 1/2-20 nut and a 1/2-20 oil drain bolt with gasket at a parts store. Cut an "X" on one side of the nut about 1/4" deep with a hacksaw or grinder (you may need to run a tap through to clean up the threads). This cut will allow all the fluid to drain out.

Remove the trans pan from your truck and drill a 1/2" hole in the bottom keeping away from any edge or curved areas. Tack weld the nut with the X down on the inside of the pan using the drain bolt without the washer to align it.

Replace the washer, install the pan, add fluid and your done.

Future fluid changes are a snap.
Next time a fluid change is needed just pull the plug.
