Hi,

I have a new cluncking noise coming from my t-56 and it happens only when I'm in neutral with the clutch released. I feel like the gears inside the trans are loose and want to go into gear. It does big clunking sound, and it's like the car wants to move forward when it happens!! If the clutch is depressed, all is ok, or at least, the clunck never happened. I have no problem with the clutch and it shifts smooth even at high RPM and there is no noise or cluncking sound coming from the trans running from first to sixth gear.

I remember 3 years ago I heard a weird clunking noise coming from the trans, but it happened only once so I didn't pay attention. Now it is more recurrent, it happened 4 to 5 times in the last week.

Do you think the trans needs to be rebuilt? The shifter is MGW and the car has about 80 miles.

Thanks
