just installed it yesterday and took it for a drive. the needle looks like it just starts to move and i punched it then the needle pegged.

You have a wiring problem. Check your ground.
Does it return to zero when you shut the truck off?

it looked like after i put it in park last night the needle started to slowly went down but didn't sit for too long it was cold.
and yes the needle goes back to zero when i turn it off.
