trans install reconnecting battery sparks

Good day all

I just finished up my trans install and was attempting to connect the negative post and it sparked, resulting in a burn in the battery post.

I did disconnect the solenoid from the starter to get at the second bolt. But the wires didn't get taken off.

Any idea what this could be. I had difficulty getting the solenoid in could I have the solenoid pinched internally?

How big of a spark? Did you connect the positive or negative first?

Was a steady spark. Thought I heard the starter spin. It melted the post where it touched.

I think that there is a spot for the solenoid is supposed to seat internally. We kind of just jammed it in and did it up.

Can anyone confirm this? Damn headers are in the way can't see for shi .
