I'm in need of replacing my tires on my '93 Cobra, it has its second set of 245/45/17 Goodyear Gatorback tires on it. Thread depth is good but two have DOT numbers and two do not have them unless they on on the inside sidewall. I wanted to keep it as original as possible but I do not think Goodyear makes these tires anymore. So, I'm thinking of going up to 255/40/17, will this size work with the original wheels and no issues with the body/fenders. It is not lowered.

Thanks

They will fit but in my opinion won't look that well. The Cobras wheels are only 7.5" wide so a 255 tire will bulge too much, not to mention the shorter sidewall mentioned above. I'd stick with a 245/45 tire.
