ok i have a 98 contour svt with the 17" focus svt rims what size tire shhould i run were the speedo will be correct and look decent... the tires that are on it now are really small and make the car look funny to me and the speedo says your going aound 5 mph faster than you really are...

Agreed! These are actually just a smidge taller than the stock tire. Not enough to make a significant difference in the speedo, and look great on a 17" wheel.
Depending on the tire manufacturer, that size may not be available. If for whatever reason they aren't, you can go with a 215/45/17.
