OEM Size is 265/70/17
I really like the Nitto Dura Grappler
Looking at a 285/70/17 because that size has the higher load rating.
I will be towing a 6,000lb. travel trailer. I don't want squirmy sidewalls.
Am I on the right track?

Thank you for the post Dirt2067.

(IMO) The Nitto Dura Grappler is by far the best towing tire on the market today. As far as your application goes, will these tires be for your Expedition? If yes, size 285/70-17 LR-E will work for you as the approved rim width range per Nitto for this size is 7" to 9" and your factory wheels are 7.5" wide. The Load Range E construction may ride a little stiffer than your accustom to but you can rest assure that you will not have any sidewall squirm.

Just be advised that this size is about 1.25" taller in OD so you may have to do some slight trimming. Here's the link to our site with more details.

The difference in load capacity is only about 300lbs per tire. Not worth it in my opinion. A 265/70R17 10ply tire already has a capacity of about 3400lbs. Also by changing the size of the tire, it may change how your vehicle responds to towing. It can change shift points which may or may not be a good thing for your hauling needs.

I agree snowborderus, the 265/70-17 LR-E Dura Grappler will be just fine for Dirt2067 towing needs. Taller tires however, always look good  and size 285/70-17 is only 3.5% larger so it should not have a negative affect on the shift points.

So far so good. I'm surprised how quiet they are on the road considering how much tread these bad boys have!!
Gonna tow the trailer tomorrow, that's the real test!!!
I'm gonna get some pics of it hooked up!
Thanks again for the 5 star service!!!!!
