well the time has come to get new tires. im still running the stock 15x7 wheels, and the 225/60/15 that are on it now just look a little narrow. so my question is, can i run a 235/60/15 or a 245/60/15 on the 7 inch wide rim without much tire bulge or without it becoming unsafe(tire coming off the bead)? i am not looking to spend $150 per tire so drag tires are out of the question. thanks for any help you can supply

I've known several people that ran 265/50-15 on the stock ten holes with no problems.

The only problem with running a wider tire than 225 on the 7" wide rim is that it actually pulls the outside edges of the tire in, so you really don't get the full tire width to the pavement. I would look around for some clearance wheels or used wheels that are 8" wide and go with a 245 or 255 width.
