The tires on my stock '01 wheels are in very bad need of replacement and I'm going to go with new wheels while I'm at it. I have my mind almost made up on a staggered set of 18 inch FR500 wheels in chrome but i'm having difficulty picking a tire to go with it. My choices I've come up with are:

Continental ExtrememeContact DW
275/35-18
295/35-18

Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position
275/35-18
285/35-18 (they don't make a 295)

Nitto 555
275/35-18
285/35-18 or 295/45-18 (45 too much sidewall?)

Nitto 555 G2
275/35-18
295/40-18

These will be street tires only. I have Nitto NT01 for the road course. Good tread life and comfort are important.

Does anyone have experience with these tires or went one way and wish they went another? Is there another tire that should be on my list? I might consider the extra $$$ for Michelin Pilot Super Sports since I hear they are the best, but the 295 size in on national backorder at the moment. Thanks guys!

I'm running the G2's on the back of my 04 and all the way around on our 06. I like them. They don't hook from a dig with my 04, but I didn't expect them too. The spin is controllable though. And they're pretty good in the rain. At least what we call rain in California. I'd skip the original 555's. They're rock hard.

A friend of mine ran the DW's on his 01 in stock sizes and had no complaints.

Can't speak for the tire brand b/c I run cheap shit Sumitomo for daily use, lol, but I would go with a 295 for sure as the 285's that I run are on the narrow side for sure. I have 18x10 FR500's out back.

You'll want to see if you can find some tires to measure. I know the G2's run about a half inch wider than the old 555's. On our 06 I have 285/40/18 on 18x10 rims and they line up perfect. Up front I went with 255/45/18 on a 18x9.

Thanks, yeah I only want to do this once so I want to do it right the first time! I took notice of everyone's setup at FFF at Knott's in April. Surprisingly though, I did not see too many 99-04 Mustangs with FR500s. I would have thought I would have seen more but I didn't so I only have limited data to go on. :)

Thanks again.
