tire decision to make im on the fence

ok so I have a chance this weekend to pick up some 15" racestars with tires MT ET Streets 275/60/15 for $550. they are 15x8. I could either buy these or get another set of drag radials for my spare 17" wheels. I have 3.31's currently. I have a set of 3.73's in my garage. My question is buy the racestars swap gears to 3.73's or keep the 3.31's and run a 26" tall 17" inch rim drag radial. My buddy was telling me if I run the racestars with my current gearing setup it will equal to like a 3.08 gear not good. Does tire size really effect your rear end gears that much? how much will this affect my car at the track? Will it in effect run slower?

I would do the 3.73 and 15" wheels. My last set of ET Streets hooked like a set of slicks. Won't have to baby it off the line with those.

The more side wall the better the DR or slick will bite. Another vote for the 15" wheels

with a 26 inch tire i think your ratio becomes 3.42. This will make it harder to grab traction if you were having issues with 3.31s. With 3.73s most people recommend 28 inch tires
