Tint on Rear View Mirror?

Tried a search, turned up nothing. Is the tint on the rear view mirror actual window tint or is it tinted glass? Reason I ask is the corners of mine show no tint and are regular mirror looking....seems like the tint is wearing or fading off. Also, with 20% window tint on the rear window, it gets really hard to see out the back at night.

Is there a way to remove this tint on the rear view mirror or am I stuck with it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I've seen this before on other cars...
I think if the glass/mirror assembly starts to delaminate, it loses the tint effect in that area

no....BUT, maybe you could find a replacement mirror that isn't tinted

the windshield mount has stayed the same for many years and vehicles
