Timing Chain tensionor issues?

I read this from another board...

96-98 Cobras also have issues with their primary timing chain tensioners going out near 100k miles...give or take a little. Then when that happens you have to jack the engine off it's mount, rip everything off the front of the engine, remove the valve covers and oil pan and timing chain cover, just to get to the timing chain tensioners.

How often does this happen? Is it as prevalent as this fella makes it sound?

my COBRA at 100k never had that problem. never really had any problems...wish i kept it.


actually right when i sold it the starter went, clutch, clutch cable and something else blew... but i think its how the new owner drives her...:cuss:

Dont know why he had to remove the oil pan .. it's not THAT difficult to get the covers off.
