Any experiences with replacing a broken throwout bearing retainer? What it look like where the stress split it?Change out a TO Bearing retainer before? What were the symptoms while driving?
Thanks
Thanks
Good.Yes, it's not that bad to replace. Zak at the T45 Source is where I got my steel sleeve replacement.
Do you think that's what ford uses to replace broken sleeves with now? I had the dealership replace mine 3 years agoIt's not too bad. You will need a t-56 bearing retainer sleeve, same as the t-45 and no carries the part number for ours. They also all seem to come billet steel which is nice. You need to split the bell housing from the transmission case. From there I used a large block of wood and placed the bell housing on it to not damage the aluminum and allow the dowel pins to hang off the side. From there i used a driver and large socket and drove the retainer out with a hammer. The same thing when driving it in, just the other side.
Wear locations on bearing retainer sleeve?I haven't opened anything up yet, clutch hasn't been replaced yet. I planned on using the FRPP bearing, wanted to hear any opinions on the McLeod, just because I have one.
-When a TO bearing retainer wears out, prior to breaking, where do you see the wear? Wanted to know how much wear is on the one I remove.
***One is made of forged steel, one is made of aluminum. Choices, not sure what would be better, just ordered mine from T45 Source.
