It works if you follow the directions carefully. It can only be used for holes that still have some thread in them, if its totally mangled, you will have to re-tap

You will have to retap anyways. The outside of the insert is bigger than the plug. I have used them twice in two different heads and had a problem both times. The prob was the same, they are made out of steel and the heads are aluminum. The aluminum head expands seven times more than the steel insert when they are heated the same. The problem that I ran into twice was that this difference in expansion causes the head to crack around our spark plug holes where they protrude into the combustion chamber. so the cheap quick fix will buy you some time but you will have to replace the head in the near future anyways. good luck
