There are certain things that are considered essential for a man to know. I ran across this list from askmen.com and was curious what you guys would add or remove from the list.

...according to Askmen.com

25 - Leave a tip
24 - Clean your apartment
23 - Change a tire
22 - Set the mood
21 - Undo a bra
20 - Tie a tie
19 - Get into a nightclub
18 - Do the groceries
17 - Speed read
16 - Read a woman's medicine cabinet
15 - Sew a button
14 - Do the laundry
13 - Choose the right wine
12 - Play poker
11 - Throw a party
10 - Keep your bar well-stocked
9 - Cure a hangover
8 - Smoke a cigar
7 - Iron clothes
6 - Purchase flowers
5 - Make restaurant reservations
4 - Manage stress
3 - Prepare breakfast in bed
2 - Send proper e-mail
1 - Be a gentleman <--(most important in my opinion)

I think every guy should know how to drive a car with a manual transmission, know how to do basic maintenance on his car (change the oil and filter, fluids, change head/brake lights), and should have a general idea of how to defend himself. Maybe its because I'm a college student, but I also believe every guy should know how to tap a keg correctly.

I'm curious, what do you think is considered essential knowledge?

I can't do #3 (though I am learning), I don't know about #13 cause I don't drink wine, not sure what they mean about #16, and #17.....I read slow. I agree with your suggestions though, aside from the keg tapping. How about adding shooting a gun to it. And starting a fire (camp fire).

She has a job, too...
I don't.

On the other hand, I spent the last 3 years in Iraq making money overseas...so I can afford to be a lazy, useless bassturd and go to college.:-D:

I was thinking about joining the fight. Just cant convince myself. But the signing bonus sounds good.

Whats the norm that soldiers walk away with? Is that a dumb question?

I agree that every man should know how to drive a manual trans.
I agree that every man should be able to perform basic maintenance, with most knowing how to do more.
I agree that men should be able to defend themselves, without the help from other objects.
I agree that men should be able to effectively and safely shoot a gun.

Every man should go hunting once, or if your like me, you hunt every chance you get for whatever is in season.
Every man should know basic survival.
Every man should know how to put in a hard manual labor day's work without complaining. (Come on out to my house during tobacco cutting time and I'll let you try.)
Every man should know to do basic household repairs.
