Does that layup like fiberglass?

Very similar but slightly more ridged depending on the weave you get. Its incredibly hard to get it to stick down completely flat on sharp corners or weird shapes without it lifting and causing air pockets. doing this again and lamenting an existing part I would vacuum bag it, let it cure, sand it, and then hand laminate it with a few more layers of epoxy for a flat finish. That way it fully conforms to the part and I don't spend hours chasing small little imperfections.

Very cool project! More importantly, you must have a very supportive and loving wife. As soon as I saw what looks to be diningroom pics, I was like nope, my wife would be flipping out. hahahahaha
