So last night I turned the car off and the fan was definitely still running, and continued to do so for about 20 minutes...so i took it home and disconnected the battery which obviously turned it off, but when I reconnect it, it comes back on again. This just started out of nowhere...any ideas on this latest issue?

Sounds like a relay stuck into the closed position. Tap it for a temporary fix. Replace it asap, even if the tapping works. Carry the old one as a spare.
