Temp and Fuel gauge PLEASE HELP

I took out the cluster to mess with the oil pressure gauge which was acting weird, when I got it all back together the fuel and temp gauge had stopped working correctly. Does anyone have any help. It’s not my battery either.

I had the same issue with my fuel guage in my work van. Turned out whenever I disconnected the battery, the guage would function correctly for 2 or 3 starts after I reconnected it. Assumed a bad ground after that, chased the wiring, replaced a section of wire by the fuel pump ground and it's worked since. Possibly the temp and fuel grounds are the same out the back of the cluster? If so I'd recommend cleaning the ground.

Funny you bring this up... when i replaced my odometer gear, my speedometer would fluctuate.

Like mentioned, look at grounds.

If you need a new fuel gauge sending unit I might have one in my garage that I've had for years. It won't work on my 98.
