Hi everyone. New to this generation, trying to figure something out. Looking at a 1999 Supercharged Cobra (537 WHP dynoed and tuned at Johnny Lighting). The owner says it has a teksid block, is that stock on the car? I had thought not, and ask if internals were done with the block and he said no? Doesn’t make sense to me, but again..new to the platform. Anyone have any input?

The land of commies and socialists!
Teksid blocks came in all 96-99 cobras. The 99 block had upgraded main cap side bolts IIRC.

That kind of power on a stock internal teksid is cause for concern if that dyno wasn't super loose.

What kind of supercharger and boost are we talking about?

I ask because people with supercharged cars like to inflate hp numbers but the reality is X lbs of boost on pump will only net so much HP no matter who tunes it.

Thanks for the reply! Clears up the block mystery! It was a procharger at 11psi I believe...but it sold before I could check it out. Maybe for the best.

537 with a procharger at 11 psi on a stock engine? Yeah I don't see that happening. Sounds like the guy was inflating the numbers to sell the car, happening way to often.

That’s what I was wary of too. It just didn’t add up from what I had read. I appreciate you guys taking the time to answer!

The 1999 Cobra did come with a Teksid aluminium block.
Forged crank but the other internals were cast.

I purchased my 99 already broke, although spun bearing and scored crank as opposed to top end issue that some experience. It has all forged internals in it now 20 over stroked to 5.0. I will be much more comfortable adding air to this platform then the factory one for that year.

What sc is on it?

probably measuring his dick from behind his balls - aka guestimating crank hp from wheel hp.

If he had a bunch of other mods and it did make that much, the fuse was lit and it won't be a long one
