tech question

So me and the gf went out tonight cause it felt good tonight. When I looked down to check my Speedo it was going crazy. then it stopped and just laid at 0mph while I was going down the highway, and my mileage went from 90k to just --------. is my cluster bad or is it the speed great in my Trans?

what kind of vehicle is it? If it is an early 2000 chevy it is most likely you cluster as they are known for acting like you describe.

Oops sorry its an 04 mustang gt.

probably a bad cluster. they are cheap crap. try to engage test mode and see if the cluster has any shorts.
press and hold the odo button and start car, continue holding until the cluster states test mode and the needles sweep from 0-100% and then release. check through the functions and see if you have any issues or blackouts.

Did anything else stop working? Car still runs fine? You checked fuses? Shut off the car and back on with same results?

I've seen speedos drop to zero for a variety of reasons.
