I will be heading into a tax exempt area for the first time in my career this year. When looking at my LES what taxes will I not pay, just federal, or is fica and medicare going to disappear also?

If its a combat zone tax exemption, it will only be state and federal taxes, those other arent taxes, but deductions.

Your command must be shitty, as they should have told you the answers to this question.

Im not at my command to ask... Im home on leave, and then going to school for a month. Plus i figured the vast knowledge of SVTP wouldn't disappoint. It is a combat tax exempt zone(aka, the gulf). I don't pay state taxes either, but thanks for the answer

also, if you re-enlist and get a bonus, the entire bonus is tax exempt, including the portions of it you will get in later years..
