Got my DORA today from my dealer and called in to SVT. They confirmed the order and said that build dates should start to be scheduled after the 1st of the year. Just an FYI.

Sweet! It will be here hopefully by snowmelt! I doubt they will build as many 14's as 13's so you will probably get it sooner then a lot of us waited for a 13.

You're correct on building less. Probably around 2000-2500. As for gettin it sooner. Who knows. That's been the hardest thing to predict this year

Nate, I ordered the exact same car.

How long is it from "scheduled" to starting to build the cars?

They have not scheduled or announced
Scheduling for 2014.

The 14 Shelby's should start being built in late February early March at the earliest.

I'm still hearing they are going right into 2014 GT500 production last 1/2 of January.

I can't see why that wouldn't be possible, but other people are still saying Mar.

Was there a couple of months delay in the production of the 2011 or 2012 GT500's or did they start at the same time as the other Mustangs?

There was a delay after both '09 and '10. No delay between '11 and '12.

Of course the 2009 to 2010 and the 2010 to 2011 build switch are not really good comparisons as the 2010 model was different mechanically from the 2009 model and the same goes for the 2011 over the 2010 model. However, the 2011 and 2012 models, and the lack of any major changes between the two years, would be the best indicator of what time length should occur with the 2013 and 2014 car; as the 2014 won't have any mechanical changes either.

So I see no reason why, as Iceman has said several times, Ford wouldn't just start on a mid January Monday morning producing the 2014 Shelby. I mean the ordering guides/and availability to order a 14 moved up a few months sooner than a lot of folks were predicting. And the switch in years really for this car is just a simple VIN change, color addition/deletion, window sticker changes, and of course they will have to change out the lighted door sills of the 2013 model to now say "21st Anniversary". LOL! :p

Hmmm...wish I knew who was right. I was also wondering if they start Shelby production the same time as the other Mustangs.
