Actually, I have found that having the shift light is all I really need now.. I rarely look at the tach anymore. I have become accustomed to just listening to the pitch of the motor for shifting, and on rare occasions on the track, when I am about to hit the rev limiter, my shift light (an Autometer with a 6600 RPM pill) lights up to warn me before I actually bang on it and the power gets cut at around 6900 or so... I've actually seen it go right at 7000 RPMs before it shuts down. I am thinking my custom chip added a couple hundred RPMs?, because it came with a cutoff of 6800.
