1998 is mech so to speak.

It's a gear in the tranny that turns an output wheel from the VSS. The VSS sends a signal to the speedo for spead measurment. So it's mech from the tranny...electric to the speedo.

The 99+ is electric from the tranny all the way up.

Hope that answers it....

Thought it could be done both ways? Speedo gear or flash, but not both? My pred has the opt, but I already changed the gear 7 years ago w/ the 410's I put in.

just how accurate would the speedo gear be with 4.30s?

not very accurate, huh?

Dunno, but what I do know is I have a Brothers Performance speedcal and mine is dead nuts on. Every time I go by one if those things on the highway where it displays your speed, mine has never been off 1 mph.
