get a hook up from a buddy for a tv on base, we winded up w/ a JVC we like it

relevant......tv from base = better price and more money for hdmi wires and other things you might need...lol

Budget is around 2k

LCD, Plasma or LED

from researching it seems like LCD is the way to go.. But i really don;t know anything about them .

i am looking at this LED

what do you guys think?

Please dear god don't say you pay for the Monster HDMI's lol.... if you are paying $5 for an HDMI cable, you're getting ripped off!!

no i paid $9 shipped for mine thanks to JEFE and firefold.com
also $33 shipped for my wall mount on monoprice.com

sorry was when we 1st hook it up at 3am, we since moved wires and it looks much cleaner but you get the idea. wall mount and floating shelf w/ single dvd player so it looks like it sitting by itself. thsi is for now til we get home theatre again and then we'll have 3 floating shelves etc.

He was referring to the OP, bringing up TV talk.

DRTHV8R, LED is LCD, it just uses LED lights to backlight it. For $2k you can get a really nice TV. I prefer plasma because it handles motion much better than LCD and typically has better blacks and more realistic colors. Head over to avsforum.com and read up and look at some TV's yourself to find out what you like best.

Are you at Lackland? If so they must treat you a lot better than Tinker does. The only price break at Tinker is no sales tax, which is about 8%. That would be fine except that they get about 20% more than Best Buy for the same TV. It's cheaper and less hassle to just buy it at Best Buy.

personally I wouldnt blow all $2k on TV alone....id put a surround sound in there too lol

either way

50" Panasonic G20 is a GREAT tv
If you want something bigger, try and find a 58" Panasonic V10...they are clearanced out for about your budget.
