Simple question:

Are you supposed to switch from the recommended 5w-50 oil when you do a t-stat change to the 170 degree t-stat?

I wasnt planning on it, but the paper that came with the t-stat seems to recommend it.

What does everyone do? Makes sense that the lower temps could lead to a shift in viscosity.

Car is a 2012 GT500

Yep, 10w30 for drag and street brawls and if you road course the car at all 10w40, amsoil is my choice.

I got my t-stat in. I have 8 qts of 5w-50 oil. Is it safe to use? Is it going to result in too high of a viscosity and therefore pressure? Anyone running a 170 t-stat and 5w-50?

Thanks
