It doesn't help that one manufacturer's 285 might not be exactly the same width as anothers.

I just mounted 275/40-19 Continentals on my 19x10 wheels and it looks like I easily could've went 285/35. I think I will in the future.

I was just cautious since these are the widest tires I've ever had. And, like others have said, I prefer to factor in cornering performance at least as much, if not more than, straight line performance. But that's just me.

guys the factory base GT500 wheels are 19X9.5 and come from the plant with 285-35-19 on the rear and 255-40-19 on the front, so 285-35-19 on a 19X9.5 wheel is perfectly ok and looks great.

Wow haha. No i had no problems at all running these. The reason the wheel looks like its out was because the panhard bar needed readjusting after going lower. They are still on the car and have great tread wear. I hook with 550hp from 20rolls perfect. Dead stops are a different thing but they work great for not being a drag radial. Also i don't slide out in the rain when cruising at 70mph's so that is nice too :) If i can't pick up a set of these again for a good price i'll be switching to the 305 et streets.
