alright, gonna try to make this short and sweet.....

pulled plugs to inspect them yesterday, and found one bad plug

promptly ordered new plugs (will arrive tomorrow)

emergency came up and had to pick my grandfather up from the hospital, so i slapped the old plugs in, since the electrodes were still ok. now the car has developed what sounds like detonation in between the 2k to 3k rpm ranges but only when under load. this problem was not there before i pulled the plugs.

im hoping its just the plugs that are junk. any suggestions?

i would suggest a gap .032-.035. also i would replace the fuel filter. it would hurt to add some 100 octane wouldnt hurt either especially if you drive it hard.

well the new plugs will be gapped at .032, these were gapped at .036 when i had the 3.1 upper on.

im only wondering why this didnt happen prior to pulling the plugs.

could be fuel filter condition...anything that can starve the engine from fuel....small vacum leak..causing it to run lean...where in cali are you?

(recap) replaced the plugs gapped @ .032, fuel filter, cleaned filter and maf. the sand in a can rattle is still present at said rpm range, will be crawling under the car tomorrow to investigate further..... i think im going to chalk this one up to a loose slip pipe on the exhaust.

*going to check e-brake cable as well. anybody have anymore ideas?
