The 275 has more sidewall if thats what your talking about.
275 x .40 = 110 mm
295 x .35 = 103.25 mm

I use this formula for different width 17s to figure out which tire will look taller. Since there is a 18 and a 17 here I am not sure.

What I want to know is the overal height if you stood them next to each other which tire would be taller. When i purchase my new rims and tires I dont want alot of wheel well showing. And I dont want them to rub so if they are close in height i dont think i will have a problem.

17" = 431.8 mm
18" = 457.2 mm

To get total wheel height:

17" setup: 110+431.8+110 = 651.8 mm

18" setup: 103.25+457.2+103.25 = 663.7 mm

The 18" wheel/tire combo will be about 1.2 cm taller. That's about 1/2".

Oh yeah, correct. My formula was just for the sidewall (tire!) then you have to add the actual wheel which is 17" (converted to mm) or 18". Also, of course the 18" tire will be a little taller. I don't think its possible for a 17" tire to look taller unless its sidewall is friggin' huge!

(26.1" - 25.7")/2 = 0.2" larger radius, or 0.2" less visible wheel well. There will be no problem unless the wheel offset is wrong and allows the tire's inside sidewall to rub the exhaust pipe.
