Hello everyone I bought a 99 SVT Contour great condition but the main issue is
From what I am gathering. There was a air leak between the head and block
I'm thinking the previous owner tried to over tighten the head bolt and stripped the threads out. My question is last owner started taking it apart the head is still bolted on. Any pointers or info that can help on this fix without getting a whole new block thanks. Jay

All that work, if your going to go down to the block you got most of the motor out.

In all honesty your better off dropping a 3L motor in it. More HP and more torque.
$400-500 for a 3L with low miles.

go to contour.org

Register and read up in the 3L threads. Everything you want to know is there.

As far as getting a motor. I would try car-part.com and search yards in your area. I've seen motors with 7000 miles on them.

2003-2005 3.0L DOHC Duratec Engines that work in the contour.

Ford Taurus, Mercury Sable, Ford Escape/ Mercury Mariner, Mazda Tribute
