Decided to remove the hood stripe from my DSG today since it was crooked (previous owner installed it) and was starting to peel up. I like the look of the car without the stripe however you can clearly see where the stripe was now. It almost looks like a ghost stripe. Tips on ways to get rid of that? If I have to I'll just get another stripe, but it looks so clean without. I tried regular wax with a buffer and it didn't help. Any advice appreciated!

Paint fade. Don't think you'll ever get rid of it. I would just get an OEM piece (expensive but worth the cost). That stripe is something that makes the hood. Otherwise, the shaker just looks like a mole amongst the paint.

You might be able to blend it in with the rest of the hood if you polish with some compound.

The stripe is part of what distinguishes the car as a Mach 1. Go to Ford and buy a new OEM one, they still sell them.
