Stock transmission fluid?

Ok, I've searched and there seems to be a lot of debate as to what tranny fluid people are switching to. I'd just like to know what the stock motorcraft fluid is that is in our t-56 transmissions? Possibly a part number if anyone knows? Thanks

I changed the stock fluid @ 4931 miles with Amsoil synthetic ATF fluid. Used ~ 4 qts. and shifts great. I am a firm believer in Amsoil synthetic products!

One week ago I changed to synchromesh....what a difference when the tranny is cold and warmed up compared to stock. 11.00 quart

simply ask your ford dealer for some dexron/mercon III if you want it in a motorcraft bottle.

Dexron III/Mercon.

I've run AC Delco in all my ATF applications with great success.

I'm sure your local dealer could supply you with the proper fluid upon request, as Shelbyguy stated.
