Just wondering what the stock shift boot is made of, leather or vinyl?

Installed the MGW shifter today in the cobra, and its cold outside so its hard. And it pushes against the interior peice and moves it. Hoping it gets better when its warmer out. Won't be for a few months yet.

If its vinyl then it will probably always be that type of hard. I'm guessing if I got a real leather shift boot it would be better, like from redline or whatever? Anyone have any insight?

Thanks.

It's real leather. I left the boot off on mine for that reason. In the spring I'm redoing my headliner, steering wheel and some other stuff so I was going to have a shop make a boot that's longer. Thinner vinyl would be ideal

It only moves because the shifter pushes the leather into it.

I'll wait till its warm out and see if it works better.

Bump, I know more people have this problem, and I don't believe someone hasn't come up with some kind of fix. I feel as though, because it is so stiff that it could kick the car out of third.
