Any suggestions? I've done the KB diff brace w/hard bushings and rear shock tower brace and it's better then stock except for the fact that once it starts hopping it feels like my truck stuck in sand. Help! :fm:

Both braces you added do nothing for wheel hop that I know of. The bushings you added can help reduce it.

You may want to think about Maximum motor sports IRS bushings there are 2 kits one is $89 the other is around $50 both are a bit of a pain to install but both can help in reducing wheel hope even more.

Other things can be added like anti hop shocks or even sticker tires like drag radials

My car is going in saturday for the same thing for the second time..I have been told that it has alot to do with alignment!!!!
The rear is sloppy from the fact. and I am going to make them deliver me a car with no hop or they can put a live axle in...They know I will not take it back untill its right.

Vector beat me to it so I will add.... Ditto (what he said). The IRS bushings and drag radials should help a fair bit from what I have read here. The drag shocks should eliminate 90+%... the 100% cure? We all know that one, solid axle.

I have NO wheel hop and all I have for suspension is H&R Race springs. My rommate has H&R Sport and he still has a little hop.

LOL no alignment is going to fix your wheel hop and who ever told you that is on crack.

like some one said springs will also help reduce wheel hop

doing all of the above bushings, shocks, springs, drag radials can reduce wheel hope to almost nothing.

but alignment lmao no that is not going to fix it and no dealer is going to put a live axle in your car for free

I've only had em on about a week and haven't been to the track yet, but the MM coilover setup lets me spin the tires at will instead of hopping. It's a nice change. :burnout:

I talked to a SVT Mechanic specialist at Bonderaunt driving school and he told me the tightness and alignment of the IRS is one if the dircect causes of hop. Springs, shocks, bushings, braces...They are band aids on a wound that won't heel until it is alighned and tight. Although he did say that bushings will help the most. Why else would you have some say "Mine never hops.."Or" mine did untill"..While others say "I did all that and it never went away!!! Those who are at their whits end with hop need to send it to a dealer and demand it alighned and tightened up..And make them put new bushings in...They wiLL!
I got that right from "The horses mouth"
No crack here!

MM bushings, steeda bushings, subframes, matrix brace, jacking rails, anti hop shocks and coupe springs was my previous setup. It all helped but I still hopped at least 1 out of 3 times I stomped on the gas in 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear.
Ran several different tires too including BFG and Nitto DR's.

btw...I had a 4 wheel laser alignment done with my last set of tires and that didn't help the hop either.

SVT Mechanic specialist .....I got that right from "The horses mouth"....

I think you got the info from the wrong end :)

If other chime in here i am sure they will agree.

My car when its 75 out or warmer is very hard to get it to hop. Why is this. whell when its colder out the car cant get as good of traction. wheel hop is a effect from a cause. the cause is traction to no traction and then back again. when this happens it plays hell on the factory soft rubber bushings are rear ends have alot of ruber bushings when all of them start to get compressed and then unloaded the wheels start to hop.

by doing the above mods listed you start to replace the "cause" (bushings springs shocks tires) tires are key.

All 99,01 and 03,04 cobra's hop from the factory some do it worse then others and some od it more becuase of roads and temp's

they all hop to some degree or an other from the factory

you can have your dealer replaces all of the parts that go into your IRS with factory parts and re alignit. but it is still going to hop

I am sure other people here will agree

This may be a dumb question. But now that you have the MM coilovers, do you still have the anti hop shocks and the coupe springs, or are you back to the stock vert shocks and springs? Or do the coilovers replace the vert/coupe shocks and springs. I told you it was a dumb question...but I know next to nothing about suspension set ups.

You can laugh but does yours hop?

The first week i had my car it did not feel liek it hopped.

then i heard it from out side and yes it did hop but very little this was also 80 degree temps.

The first time it rained and i got on it the car felt like it was coming apart. very bad wheel hop.

in october at night when it was 40-55 temps i could get it to hop if i got on it in first.

does it hop now... well the temps have been high 30's to 50's and from the outside of the car on a hard or atlest trying to launch the car hard you can here it ever so slighly trying to hop from outside. but from inside you cant here or fell it

This was imposable before installing bushings.

I have all of the irs bushings and aluminum diff bushings. i still have the stock springs and shocks.

and still on F1.

Going to BFG's and (anti hop shocks, and springs) in the next month this should take the very light hop the car has on cold days and fix it.

A lot of compliance comes from the UCA/LCA as well, while your at it replace those with delrin bushings.

I used poly. the factory rubber bushings used in the upper and lower control arms are pretty soft for the job they have to do.

atlest replace these with poly. I think tofast4u has delrin in his car

i would have done delrin but already had poly bushings in.

thanks for reminding us about them shadow

Racerat,

I assume this is on the KB car? If so - Sweet! I'm anxious to hear from you after you've driven around with them for a while and had a chance to take it down the track.

My wheel hop is 'virtually' gone. But just like you mentioned, if you don't launch perfectly every time (which is impossible) I'll get the hop about 1 out of every 3 times...

Can't wait to hear back from you...

Ive got the same delrin peices from Nick that toofast has but I am waiting for a bunch of other parts before I put them in (halfshafts, diff girdle etc). I cant wait to just have all this stuff done and behind me :)
