Speedo not working after 3650 swap

I have a 1996 Cobra that at the time of purchase came with a Super Comp AODE. I like banging gears so I decided to sell the AODE and buy a 5-speed. I came across a good deal on a 3650 with less than 1000 miles. After the install, the speedometer does not work. Does anyone have any suggestions on correcting the problem. Thanks.

Um. Did they ever make a Mechanically driven 3650?

Cuz I think all 3650's are electric and 1996's are cable driven.

that is exactly what i was thinking.....

you need to go with a little older trans. a t45 from the 96-98 cobras will have a mechanical speedo gear and have the same ratios as a 3650.

Thanks for the information. I had several people suggest that I go with a 3650 over the T-45, because it was a better transmission. I guess I should have did more research. Now that good deal does not look so good. Thanks again.

I'm sure you can get a mechanical tailshaft for that tranny to work on your car. It should be a direct swap.

Call these guys and ask them what you need exactly.
